Now that tryouts are complete, we’d like to thank everyone who came out to the Hunterdon Bears tryouts and wish everyone the best of luck heading into the 2018-19 season!

What to Expect…

Mite

What to expect for Mite players in 2018-19
• 3-4 Spring team practices in May/June
• 1 Week of Summer Camp (August, exact week TBA)
• 1 Off Ice Strength and Conditioning or Chalk Talk Session per Week
• 2 – 60 minute on ice practices per week
• At least 2 Club Funded Tournaments
• Power Skating and Skills Coaching
• The Bears will field teams at the C/Development and A levels for Mites
• Game schedule for Mite teams usually begins in September.
• Tuition will be $1,600 for Mite players.
• Tuition includes everything listed above.
• Uniforms are not included in tuition.
• Roster limit of 10 skaters and a rotating goaltender

Squirt

What to expect for Squirt players in 2018-19
• Birth years 2008 and 2009
• 3-4 Spring team practices in May/June
• 1 Week of Summer Camp (August, exact week TBA)
• 1 Off Ice Strength and Conditioning or Chalk Talk Session per Week
• 2 – 60/75 minute on ice practices per week
• At least 2 Club Funded Tournaments
• Power Skating and Skills Coaching
• The Bears will field teams at the A and B levels for Squirts
• Both Teams will compete in the NJYHL
• Both teams will have the option to also compete in the EJEPL (parent vote)
• Game schedule for Squirt teams usually begins in late August.
• Tuition will be $3,200 for Squirt players.
• Tuition will be $3,500 if either or both teams decide to join the EJEPL. Each player will have $300 added to their total tuition.
• Tuition includes everything listed above.
• Uniforms are not included in tuition.
• Roster limit of 13 skaters plus goaltender(s)

Peewee

What to expect for Pee Wee players in 2018-19

  • 3-4 Spring team practices in May/June
  • 1-2 Weeks of Summer Training Camp (August)
  • 1 Off Ice Strength and Conditioning or Chalk Talk Session per Week
  • 2 – 75 minute on ice practices per week
  • At least 2 Club Funded Tournaments
  • Power Skating and Skills Coaching
  • The Bears will attempt to field teams at the B, A and AA levels for Pee Wees
  • All Teams will compete in the NJYHL
  • AA and A teams will also compete in the EJEPL
  • The B team will have the option of entering the EJEPL
  • Game schedule for Pee Wee teams usually begins in late August.
  • Tuition will be $3,900 for Pee Wee A and AA (includes $300 EJEPL fee)
  • Tuition will be $3,600 for Pee Wee B and if the team decides to join the EJEPL, each player will have $300 added to their total tuition.
  • Tuition includes everything listed above.
  • Uniforms are not included in tuition.
  • Roster limit of 16 skaters plus goaltender(s)

Midget

What to expect for Midget players in 2018

  • 3-4 Spring team practices in May/June
  • 1 Week of Summer Training Camp (Mid-July)
  • 1 Off Ice Strength and Conditioning Session/Chalk Talk per Week
  • 1 Full Ice Practice per week in July and August
  • 2 – 70 minute on ice practices per week, September and October
  • 1 Combined A/AA practice per week in July and August
  • At least 1 Club Funded Tournament
  • After the Short Season ends in October/early November, there will be an optional skills session/practice for all Midget players for the rest of the season on Monday and Thursday evenings that is included in the player tuition. While attendance is optional, the ice and coaching staff will be fully committed for the entire season.
  • In addition to the weekly skills session/practice, there will be games scheduled. The roster for each game will be determined by the Hockey Director and Coaching Staff and will fluctuate throughout the season.
  • The Bears will field teams at the A and AA levels for U16 and U18
  • Teams will compete in the NJYHL and potentially the EJEPL (will ask for parent vote again after teams are solidified).
  • Game schedule for all Midget teams usually begins in mid-August.
  • It is imperative that players attend the Spring and Summer practices and maximize the full ice practice opportunities.
  • Tuition will be $3,100.00 for 16A, 16AA and 18A players and $2,800.00 for 18AA players
  • Tuition includes everything listed above, including the extended season sessions.
  • 18AA players will be permitted to practice only during the extended season and play in games on “as needed” basis.
  • Uniforms are not included in tuition.

 2017-2018 Season

Squirt A  –  Runner Up NJYHL Lake Placid Division and also clinched playoff spot in EJEPL
Pee Wee B  –  Finished in 2nd Place in NJYHL Central Division with a record of 22-2-0 (clinched playoff spot)
Pee Wee A  –  Finished in 2nd Place in NJYHL Central Division with a record of 24-4-0 (clinched playoff spot) and also clinched playoff spot in EJEPL
Bantam A1   – Clinched 1st Place in NJYHL Central Division with a record of 27-1-0 and won the Atlantic District Tournament Championship

Congratulations to each team on their accomplishment of qualifying for the NJYHL Playoffs/ EJEPL Playoffs!!!
